Windows 7 Save As Crash Problem and Solution

Recently when you go to Open or Save a document from a variety of software in Windows 7, the Open or Save box freezes and the only solution is to close the whole software by crashing it. This is not only annoying but causes major loss of data.

The problem does not present itself if you just open a file by clicking on its icon or if you save a previously create file, the cause it seems is the actual Windows 7 common Open or Save box.

In the past weeks we have struggled looking for a solution not to avail until we came across a posting indicating Windows Live Sync could potentially be the problem. We then backtracked all recently installed programs and indeed we found we installed Windows Live Sync right about at the same time the problem started to appear.

So far uninstalling Windows Live Sync solved the problem.

There may be other causes to this issue, including some HP drivers or firewall issues as reported in other sites, but so far this did the trick.
